The bounty system is calculated differently depending on how much power an outlaw is perceived to have and how dangerous their actions are. Here are the all-time five highest bounties in One Piece of any character, dead or alive.
5. “Red-Haired” Shanks: 4,048,900,000 berries
One Piece writer Eiichiro Oda has strategically reserved a lot of information on Shanks. So fans are very interested in his backstory and what importance he will play in the rest of the series.
Despite not having very much known about Shanks, we do know that he is one of the Four Emperors of the sea. Shanks commands the fifth highest bounty in all of One Piece and is a former crew member of Gol. D Roger the legendary Pirate King.
4. Charlotte “Big Mom” Linlin: 4,388,000,000 berries
The Big Mom Pirates are one of the biggest threats in One Piece. You can’t get much more dangerous that having a bounty of 4 billion. No pirate is more deserving than Emperor Charlotte Linlin. Fans understand that the Yonkō command huge territories across the world of One Piece.
There was a display of map of Big Mom’s territory on Fish-Man Island when her retainers arrived to collect the island’s monthly payment in exchange for protection. The Emperor possess incredible physical fortitude and control over the power of the Soul-Soul fruit.
Her devil fruit enables her to make others age quickly or be controlled. It also makes it easy for her to create minions by imbuing objects with a stolen soul.
3. Kaido: 4,611,100,000 berries
Kaido has reigned terror upon Wano for generations. This Emperor, dubbed the “Strongest Creature” has even been referenced as immortal. He leapt from the floating island of Skypea in an attempt to off himself.
Upon falling to Earth after plummeting from the sky, Kaido emerged with a mild headache. This enabled him to defeat and capture Captain Eustass Kid at Wano. When Luffy arrived at Wano Castle, Kaido was getting overwhelmed by Luffy’s Germa haki-infused Gear Three offensive.
Kaido quickly recovered from the surprise attack on him and knocked him into next week.
2. “Whitebeard” Edward Newgate: 5,046,000,000 berries
After the execution of “Gold Roger”, Whitebeard, who was said to be the closest to the One Piece, built his strength on the foundation of family. He treated all of his subordinates as his own children. Besides the 16-division Whitebeard, he commanded the allegiance of many other noteworthy pirate crews.
Whitebeard controlled the amazing Tremor-Tremor fruit, which allowed him to create massive shockwaves virtually anywhere before his death. During the Paramount War, he reshaped the battlefield with the power from his Devil Fruit. Even with half of his face blown off, Whitebeard crushed hordes of enemies before finally succumbing to death. A final testament to his significance, the captain died on his feet and remained standing even after life lost its hold on him.
1. Pirate King, Gol D. Roger: 5,564,800,000 berries
Gol D. Roger, the legendary Pirate King, still holds the highest bounty among One Piece characters of all time years after his execution. The start of the Golden Age of Pirates can be dated to the public execution of Gol D. Roger.
Moments before he died, the captain ignited the spirit of adventure among aspiring sailors across the world to reveal that his treasure was real and available for anyone who could claim it.
Roger was a famous pirate and explored the Grand Line, achieving One Piece and an amassed worth of fortune in return. He is said to have clashed with the strongest figures in One Piece and successfully evaded the World Government multiple times before turning himself in voluntarily.
So far, no one has been able to top the massive 5,564,800,000 berry bounty accured by Gol D. Roger. As One Piece’s most powerful characters keep on increasing their power and notoriety, it will be interesting to see if anyone ever topples the Pirate King!
